Question: After arriving at the Veracruz airport, what’s the best way of getting to my hotel?

Answer: We will be providing free taxi service for all wedding guests from the Veracruz airport to their respective hotels, regardless of whether or not they are staying at the Grand Fiesta Americana.  This is why we will need your flight information and cell phone number as soon as you have it -- so that our secretary will be able to make appropriate arrangements for your pickup. If for some reason, you find yourself stranded at the airport without our complimentary taxi service, in the airport lobby you will find a kiosk for “Taxis Seguros” (Safe Taxis) and you can safely take one of those. Do not take any other taxi besides these or the ones we will be providing.

Question: Is there a dress code for the wedding and what type of clothes should I bring in general, for sightseeing and traveling?

Answer: For the wedding, “cocktail party” attire is what we’re aiming for. Women should don their favorite party dress, accompanied by a light sweater or jacket. Men should wear a nice shortsleeve or longsleeve button down shirt or polo, accompanied by a light sweater or sports jacket.  As for attire to wear for the rest of the week, please see the answer to this in Useful Information

Question: I’d like to give David & Manuel a gift, but I don’t know if they are expecting and/or accepting gifts.  If so, what type of gift should I get them?

Answer: The biggest gift you could ever give us is your support and presence at our wedding. Please do not feel obligated to give anything else. However, should you feel inclined to honor us with something more, at the reception there will be small envelopes at each table for cash donations that can then be deposited in the ‘mailbox’ on the table specifically designated for Gifts & Cards.

Question: My roundtrip flight is to and from Veracruz, but I also plan on traveling with the group to Xalapa and Mexico City following the wedding. After the Day of the Dead celebration in Mexico City, how will I get back to Veracruz for my flight on Nov.3rd (or at a later date?)

Answer: Find the answer to this question in the Flights & Hotels link.

Question: I’m really looking forward to our stay in Mexico City, but I see that it will be relatively short and I was hoping to visit a variety of sites and museums. Will there be free time for that from Oct.31st – Nov.3rd?

Answer: Unfortunately, probably not, at least not if you are planning on partaking in the multiple Day of the Dead activities that will be taking place at that time. The crowds during those 4 days will be large, and even if you did want to break away from the group to visit one or two museums on your own, chances are that the lines will be incredibly long. This is especially true of the Frida Kahlo Museum in Coyoacán where you absolutely need to purchase advance tickets (https://www.museofridakahlo.org.mx/?lang=en)

So the quick answer is to consider spending some time in Mexico City before the wedding or to stay a bit longer in Mexico City after the wedding, maybe booking your return flight on Wednesday, Nov.6th or Thursday, Nov.7th.

On the other hand, Mexico City is our favorite city in the world and after multiple visits there over the past 25 years we have become amateur experts, and we would love to be there with you on another trip sometime in the not-too-distant future. So rather than considering this as your ‘first and last’ trip to Mexico City, you might want to think of it more as an arousing first date, with many opportunities for repeat visits down the road.
